#2002 mazda protege car battery at cosco install#
My second question, which was inspired by this old thread, is the following: can I borrow the latches from the sides to install this seat? My car's manual says that you can borrow the innermost lower LATCH anchors from each outboard rear seating position if the child restraint manufacturer allows an installation with lower anchors spaced 400mm (15.75 inches apart). This is extremely frustrating and I don't know if it is just this car seat or what I am doing wrong to cause this problem. I cannot even install it myself properly without it tipping over almost immediately after I put in my child somehow my husband (perhaps using greater force?) is able to get it in okay, but after several uses, it begins to tip to the side again enough that we have to re-install it again. I think compounding the problem is the backseat of the car is now somewhat "indented" due to the car seat having been installed in that position for several months, so it is even more prone to tipping. So the force of the seat belt (which only comes down on one side of the seat) propels the seat to tip to the side. What happens is that over time the seat gradually tips over to the passenger side of the vehicle because the seat belt extends downward from the back seat on the driver's side and then through the seat and down to the clip on the bottom of the back seat (hope this is making sense!). My first question is to ask if anyone can help me better achieve a secure install using the seat belt.

I had thought that I was not permitted to borrow the innermost LATCH anchors to install the seat in the center position and have been using the center seat belt. I have a 2002 Mazda Protege and a Safety 1st OnSide Air Protect Convertible Car Seat that I am installing rear-facing in the center position of the back seat.
